First came the lawn care business, then we purchased Superior Sprinkler Systems to complement our business model.
In 1990 Chris Gepford was a young married man with 2 young sons, Robert and Brian. He had a good job at Dulles airport but wanted to make some additional income for his young family. He talked with his dad, and he was supportive of Chris getting into the mowing business and offered a $500 loan to buy a top-of-the-line mower. Pro-Mow, Inc. was born right then and there.
Chris started slowly, working part-time after his day job, mowing yards mostly for people he and his family knew. Slowly, neighbors started asking who was cutting their lawn and the business started to grow. By 1993 Chris quit his airport job and took Pro-Mow full time.
Since Chris began Pro-Mow, each of his four sons has worked for the business at one time or another. Brian, Chris’s 2nd oldest, is in his 12th year as General Manager, overseeing all aspects of the business and Dylan, the youngest of the 4 boys, is in his 2nd year specializing in commercial and residential backflow testing.
Today Pro-Mow, along with the irrigation company, Superior Sprinkler Systems, is a thriving business employing over 50 people. One of the things we take pride in is having a company where people want to work. Our Pro-Mow Supervisor, Roberto, has been here over 22 years and Orlando, one of our crew supervisors, is coming up on his 20-year anniversary. In fact, 40% of our team has been here for 5 years or longer!
What began as a side hustle has grown into a thriving business built on integrity, expertise, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
